DISH Network Sends Bitcoin Cash To The Moon (Or At Least, Into Orbit)

The American satellite TV provider DISH has added Bitcoin Cash (BCH) as a payment option as the company looks for new innovative ways to do business.

DISH Network explained that adding Bitcoin Cash was a way to give customers more convenient ways to pay for their services. The company has also said it will be using BitPay as its main cryptocurrency payment processor.

“We’ve added Bitcoin Cash just as we chose to accept Bitcoin to serve customers who have adopted a new way of doing business,” said John Swieringa, DISH executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We have a steady volume of customers paying with cryptocurrency each month, and BitPay will allow us to continue offering more choice and convenience to our customers.”

The news means DISH customers will be able to pay for their monthly subscriptions as well as one-off movie and event payments with Bitcoin Cash. BitPay will also become the new processor of the company’s BTC payments.

Sonny Singh, Chief Commercial Officer with BitPay was vocal in his support for both digital assets, explaining that “Cryptocurrency is an increasingly popular way for consumers to make purchases online as it reduces credit card fraud and is cheaper for the merchants.”

With millions of customers across America, today’s news will be a vindication for Bitcoin Cash users.  although the company has been accepting Bitcoin since 2014.

DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) is a Fortune 250 company, adding yet another major US force to the growing list of companies that are embracing digital assets.

Crypto Briefing reported last week that Bitcoin Cash advocates had met up with financial figures and regulators on Cyprus to discuss integrating BCH with point of sale processors. Although at the time of writing no further information has been disclosed, there were rumors circulating of Cyprus becoming the Bitcoin Cash Island.

DISH is well known as a national satellite TV provider; the company launched its own streaming service, Sling, back in 2015. With an estimated 13m customers across the states, DISH’s Bitcoin Cash payment option will make cryptocurrency far more accessible for American families.
